Gary
Banks
INFO
After years of playing in a variety of bands and accompanying solo artists, Gary became a solo performer himself, in 2009.

Since then he has produced three recordings of his original songs:
-
The Keeper
-
Rising Water
-
Live at the Courthouse

Gary's songs are strongly influenced by his love of the ocean which he inherited from his father who
grew up on the lighthouses on the Victorian Coastline

All of Gary's material is embedded in the protest traditions of folk music. Songs that call for social justice and celebrate the common humanity of the world.

His song "Not in My Name" has been used by the Australian Greens at campaign launches and by Rural Australians for Refugee's.

The song "Rising Water" was written in tribute to the late great Pete Seeger after his death in 2014.

Three of Gary's songs have been selected by Trad and Now Magazine for their "Pick of the Crop" CD's. These CD's are a selection of the best independent recordings each year.
