BIOGRAPHY

Gary is a singer, songwriter, gifted guitarist, solo performer and storyteller forged in the finest traditions of folk music.

After years performing as part of successful bands and accompanying singers Gary went solo 10 years ago and has since produced 4 critically acclaimed CD’s of his original songs.

Gary’s songs are filled with his deep love and connection with Ireland, social justice, protest and the common humanity between people. His songs are filled with the insight of someone who has lived a life committed to the power that music has to unite people and to overcome injustice.

Gary lives for a part of each year in Connemara on the west coast of Ireland, a place that inspires his songwriting and where he is a popular performer at major festivals. His deep love of Ireland comes from his own family connections and his admiration for how Ireland celebrates the arts and artists.

Along with regular guitarist Rudi Katterl they have performed at major festivals both in Australia and Ireland.

Three songs, 'The Lighthouse Boy', 'Not In My Name' and 'Rising Water' have been selected by Trad and Now Magazine for inclusion on it’s annual Pick of The Crop CD’s that celebrate the best independent recordings  each year.
